African clean water project documentary

Documentarians Tony and Terri-Lynn Kalhagen will show their 60 min. film, Just a Drop. Kalhagens’ main focus is providing clean water by drilling boreholes in rural communities in the upper east region of Ghana, Africa. What initially started out as video ethnography becomes a micro – financing project that irrevocably changes lives.
The free event takes place Feb 21st at 6pm at Inti Imports Marketplace on the plaza, 45 North Main St. in Ashland. Refreshments will be provided. The Kalhagens’ will also be speaking about their upcoming tours of the water projects. An exhibit of African art will be for sale to raise money for the next clean water well to be built this July. Peace House hosts Professor Michael Niemann's talk on the growing conflict with Iran. He’ll speak of the history of U.S.-Iran relations, the state of Iran’s nuclear program, and the Israeli government's push for war. Niemann is Adjunct Professor of International Studies at Southern Oregon University. Drink, snack, socialize, and learn.

Ashland City Band performs free concerts

The Ashland City Band will present free concerts each Thursday from June 16 to August 11, at Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park. The concerts will include a variety of musical styles from marches and Broadway show tunes to orchestral transcriptions, soloists and original works for band. The programs begin at 7:30 PM.
