Heroin discovered on traffic stop near Ashland

A state trooper stopped a driver for speeding and discovered about 30 pounds of heroin in the trunk with an estimated value of $600,000.
The driver and passenger were arrested, police said.
The Ford van with California license plates was heading north on Interstate 5 south of Ashland about 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Oregon State Police.
Jose Raul Esparza, 26, of Calexico, Calif., and Armando Agustin Villasenor Jr., 21, of El Centro, Calif., were arrested on suspicion of unlawful manufacture, posession and delivery of heroin. They were being held at Jackson County Jail.
